Buying and Selling Doves and Pigeons

Buying and Selling Doves and Pigeons
By Iqbal Niazi

Doves and Pigeons can be sold at any price the bird is truly meant for. How can we know what the bird’s price is? Well, you have think about their qualities. But that does not mean you can put an extremely high price on the dove or pigeon. Some people really do not care how expensive they price their bird. I have been to dove and pigeon auction websites where they have pigeons higher than $500.00. That is really outrageous.

If you put your birds price really high than people will know that you are being cheap and trying to make money from one bird when you will normally make it out of two birds. Sometimes people do not know how hard it is for people to make money when you are raising a family, taking care of their birds, and working. For some of us dove and Pigeon hobbyists we know how hard it is. I usually sell my birds for half of the price of what I paid for.

Some people who know that they cannot take care of their pigeons do not sell them but they donate not cull them. I have heard of stories of people who cull birds that they find lost or just in their lofts. What is wrong with these people? First of all they should try to at least find the owner. But if they do not find the owner they should sell it or donate it to someone who might need it for their breeding program. I have recently actually adopted some birds from someone who couldn’t take care of them. That person was at least kind enough to not cull it, but find someone who needed it.
